Thankfully my desktop has never experienced a krash before, but it's probably because I'm using corporate linux.

Don't know how much experience you have with Dell laptops, but many of them have a tendency to overheat. Also, this is an anecdotal experience, but after buying a refurb unit and a new BYD-manufactured battery for it (from Dell), the integrity had gone below 80% in a little over half a year. This was with responsible charging. If you're gonna splurge on a nicer XPS model, just get a Framework 13 or 16.
