I don't want to be mean about it but blows my mind that some progressives are so single-minded about protecting menial dead end jobs from automation. this is literally equivalent to the "if you get rid of slavery how are slaves going to eat and take care of themselves" argument from the 1800s.

I don't think it's about being against automation, it's about corporation not subsidizing the people they replaced with automation, it's again the same issue how how economics changed in the 70s/80s, it's more productive for the company but the employees are mistreated until there's no need for them anymore
It's a non issue for non legal workforce imo as none of the original population didn't work in these fields.
It's also a non issue when there no overpopulation.
If agi ever happens, or that current models are enough to replace a lot of manpower with botpower what will people do to make a living ?
Will corpos/govs implement gay space communism ?
Will corpos/govs say "not my problem" ?
Or will they just go "you supervise the bot and get paid the same" ?

@mangeurdenuage @sun everyone asks about how to make the agi do what humans want but nobody asks if humans behave in ways that would make intelligent beings want to help them
