One of the fond memories of childhood was watching TNG, usually on Turner channel (when it still existed) or TNT, with my dad in the evenings. It was such an experience because there was nothing like it. I felt like I was exploring a world bigger than myself just from what we were seeing of Picard's and crew's adventures.
Later, during my late childhood/early teens, my parents, when Netflix was still a mail-in DVD rental company, would order the original series and we binged watched the whole thing.

My grandma gave me Star Trek instead of Star Wars, and the borg lady made me feel weird
