I cannot restate enough how underspecified and fragmented the fediverse ecosystem is if you try to actually do anything "cool" with it.

@lain I felt a great sense of freedom working with Egregoros and not trying to ram everything through the mastodon-shaped pinhole anymore.

@i @lain @sun The two features I'm in the process of building into Pleroma are both incompatible with Mastodon, one will be a new FEP. Do you think I care that Mastodon users won't be able to take advantage of them? No, they can try to convince their emotionless CEO to support them. Not my problem.

@phnt @i @lain we have our own network, it's even smaller than mastodon. that prick just wants to build out mastodon, people give him more money so he can pay the hosting costs of dumping even more people just into mastodon.social I guess.

@sun @phnt @i @lain We are fully behind this as well. Have spoke with moon on several occasions and I support it whatever whether it be financially or dev or whatever. Was told not to talk about it but now that it's in the open, well

@graf @i @phnt @lain @sun I finally figured out a social network design that's cheap, scales to whatever size, and is uncensorable and fully private while having both discovery and users able to control who gets to see their posts. I've been working like 8+ hours daily iterating on designs and throwing them out and I finally got one lol
