@matty I think I tagged you on that.
You sure did my nigga
@matty Gab might be getting the big Shoah soon (though I doubt it), so I am looking for a place to regroup if that happens. I'm glad other platforms exist.
You're welcome on NCD if you can deal with people making fun of you for glazing Torba for a bit.
@matty Thanks, man. The anime teenagers seem to have some kind of beef and I'm a bumbling boomer who really doesn't understand what's going on, so I just block people.
Snide remarks aside, you can't expect people to be welcoming if you worship the guy that stabbed them in the back (I can misrepresent things too)
@matty I don't worship the guy, but I have supported his mission for a long time. How am I involved in that? I don't understand.
@Caudill
Torbo has pulled some sketchy stuff - much of which I was unaware of until I made an account here (on Goodchild's advice). Once I saw that, combined with the banning of Dread and a few other people pointing out botting, fake user engagement and some really capricious modding I knew it was only a matter of time.
If you want to talk to some of the guys like @p and @graf they can give you a much better rendition of the things that went down.

@SilverDeth @Caudill @graf Oh, yeah, the "we have a million users" was, while they were present on fedi, like, they had, over the course of three months, 27,000 users that were actually active and made at least one post, and only 9,000 that made more than one post. This includes bots, some of which posted several times per minute. I had to implement k-means clustering and a bunch of heuristics to stop the botflood; the one I eventually settled on was brutally simple but effective: segmenting by activity type ("Create"/"Announce", at the protocol level, which are posts/reposts, versus other types, likes/follows/etc.; the idea was spambots are mostly interested in doing things that cause you to see the spam) and then count activities by hour of the day (the idea being that bots don't sleep). So, at least 99% visible activity as the filter and then sort by variance across time of day and manual review (no automated blocking, and bots that said "I'm a bot" or whatever were fine).
@p @SilverDeth @Caudill We had 27,000 users join and be active in a month in september 2022 that posted a lot of garbage if you recall
@graf @SilverDeth @Caudill During the time Gab federated, FSE had more activity than Gab. Now that it's walled off again there's no real way to tell but I suspect Poast has been more active than Gab for the entire existence of Poast.
@p @SilverDeth @Caudill @graf No fucking way I saw posts on Gab with 1000s of likes, here on the Fedi max I've ever seen is 50
@Dubbub @Caudill @SilverDeth @graf You know I can just type `psql` and then edit a number, right? It's a number. It's a column in the database. You can make anything say anything.
@p @Dubbub @SilverDeth @Caudill valid on local instances, when the instance updates users it will overwrite that value
@graf @Dubbub @SilverDeth @Caudill If Gab no longer federates, then that doesn't apply. They can write anything anywhere.
@p @Dubbub @SilverDeth @Caudill this schizo guy was going off on the timeline like a week ago so I changed his name to "NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER" with a tag for his admin and I posted it from multiple front ends and he was like "its not possible! this was a doctored image!" but it looks like his admin banned him anyway lmfao
