@georgia True
@georgia My 'indophilia' likely originated from.learning more about devanagari
@meeper its so neat that the vedas are way older than the script used to write them. I love how you can write sanskrit with so many alphabets, there is no sanskrit alpabet
@meeper by alphabet I of course mean abugida
@georgia yeah brahmic characters were first used to record prakrits
also the alphabet technically existed before the script

@Forestofenchantment @georgia not I think sanskrit started to be inscribed by around like 1bc
I suppose in the case of vedas not too much, it was an obligation for most brahmins and not for most others.
However afaik india did seem to have a naturallyndecent literacy rate (especially considerkng the sheer diversitu of scripts)

@georgia tamil script looks beautiful but its a little fucked up ngl
@lizzie its kinda crazy how much liberty the abugidas took with brahmi
@georgia *laughs in Anglo Saxon*
I have before but not much. i pray to the Goddess sometimes but mostly I'm a no namarupa type. I dont pray nearly enough either. its mostly just "please this"
@georgia The individual characters are beautiful but they fall apart as a coherent script, just like India as a nation state!
Son't tell me you can read that without double taking. Germanic scripts though? Both stylish and crystal clear.

@AngelCelt I used to be able to read Devanagari but I forgot how through lack of practice.
@AngelCelt @georgia bringing up germanic scripts as an example of script quality when Arabic exists. Smh
@yakmacker @AngelCelt there are three different ways to write most letters man
