@Dudebro @Titanbreakerkun @eee What's funny is that a little bit of deeper research shows that most of those are planned future use areas for expanding cities in a considered way. A lot of them are built next to existing, smaller, older cities that would be a pain to tear down and redevelop.

Some were largely empty when the US news corpos covered them but are filling up rapidly as businesses expand and people move over from older homes, I think I heard there was financial assistance from the government sometimes as well.

And the shit that fell down and had corners cut ended up having a lot of the people involved imprisoned or executed.
