I think this is relatable as a cradle Catholic myself. sometimes a newer convert will come across as almost too performative to me, but I’d rather give them the benefit of the doubt and believe they are being genuinely passionate in their newfound faith. I also find that newer Catholics are more likely to criticize the pope for being too woke or whatever for calling for peace, and be more of a JD Vance-style Catholic convert that wants war in Iran. Not all recent Catholics converts of course and I don’t want to generalize, just something I observed as a trend.
