4She was probably nagging him the whole way
Yea that seems very realistic, she made such a pest out of herself that finally he was like "fuck you, find your own way down".
It could’ve easily been that. It could’ve easily been that she overstated her skill and they hadn’t been together long, she couldn’t go any further, and he went back to stay alive. Who knows?
Knowing what I know about most men, I think if someone is legitimately in trouble, a guy will typically move heaven and earth to get her down safely.
I strongly suspect that she was such a pain in the ass when they were together that he basically broke up with her on the spot and expected that they would descend separately - and only later did she start to get into serious trouble which is how she ended up dying.

2Extremely likely situation. Could happen to anyone, also knowing how most women are, especially on hikes.
Right, if she's got a bad temperament to begin with and then you add in a little tiny bit of adversity, you have a recipe for her to become a total bitch.
And the guy's fault in all of this is giving her too much agency. If he treated her like his child who needs to be gotten to safety no matter what she's yammering about, then she'd still be alive - and they'd probably have also avoided getting into a serious argument to begin with.
