The problem with AOC is the Democrats are gonna force her to throw Israel overboard, so the Israel people will sooner assassinate her than ever allow her to win. They'd like Rubio because he's the business-as-usual guy. They're gonna get Vance who will give them something but they're gonna have to bend over for the Silicon Valley guys and the Jeet Lobby. They'll never tolerate AOC.

There's two ways you can vote: You create pain, or you create fear.
Western countries are largely managerial cowardocracies, so both are highly effective.

When you bring personal consequences to a "faceless bureaucrat" who previously imagined that their work has no impact on their personal life, you likewise create fear.
But these examples are all BIG HAMMER interventions, which are highly effective but will also get you at the top of the Most Wanted list in a hurry - potentially even "dead or alive", the system doesn't care about rights and process when it feels threatened.
Most pain and fear are FAR more subtle than these: stalking, and arson, and property damage, staying below the noise threshold of other concerns of the day - but being carefully targeted so as to be VERY significant in the life of the specific person you are trying to influence...
