@irie Anyone who thinks he can escort ships through the strait of Hormuz is trippin ballz. What's the travel time from launch sites to the strait, maybe 30sec? Good luck intercepting that. And if you fail your 2.5bil ship will be chillin at the ocean floor, all at the low cost of a couple mil.

@Dubbub I'm open to being proven wrong, I don't have the intel Trump has (or the insane plans) but it all seems to me as if Trump is spiraling and no one's allowed to disagree with him.
Keep a really close eye on what France does. This is the country that knew FROM THE BEGINNING that WW2 was going to be a lose-lose proposition, and the only winning move is to sit it out.
Macron has already said some unkind words toward Trump and Israel, I suspect they're going to position themselves as The Adults In The Room, whilst negotiating with Iran to get safe passage for French oil tankers.
For this, they'll provide Iran with the means to hold off US/IL pressure, and US/IL will be told they have to tolerate this Or Else...
If France starts rounding up Mossad on the French territory, then we will know tensions are starting to heat up...

@cjd @Dubbub that's an interesting alternative course. I don't mind you being right. Earlier I read France moved additional air defense and a frigate to Cyprus. This could be interpreted as France joining the fray in support of Israel (and some dishonest commentators on X portray it that way) but a more honest reading sees this move as defensive support for Greece/Cyprus: France has special military agreements with Greece that go beyond NATO.
The one thing you can always rely on is that France will be on the side of France. This is a country that never actually got rid of their colonies, they even created a fucking made up currency so they can exfiltrate all of the gold from northern Africa, and nobody says shit because they're in deals with everyone so it's just not in anybody's interest. Geopolitical alpha predators.

@cjd @Dubbub yea but no oil is coming out right now. Reports say that SA's storages are already full. I've no crystal ball obviously, but I wouldn't assign Macron the hopeless belief that a French frigate can open the strait of Hormuz. This all seems like minimum effort for contractual obligations, keeping the door open for an unknown future.
