For the kind of stuff I do, yes. Certain workloads cloud stuff is better, but you have to be really careful because if you're not on top of the billing, they will wipe you out.
With OVH, you pay a monthly and you get 1 machine and that's that.
With cloud, you pay per CPU-cycle-ram-bit-disk-storage-byte or whatever, and if you're trying to crunch a LOT of numbers, and you need that shit done yesterday, cloud is the only game in town.
But the thing is, cloud services are kind of like casinos, if you don't pay close attention to the billing, you can end up spending like 1$/second or some absurd thing until you have a multi-million dollar amazon bill.
Me I just wanna run a couple little websites and some cjdns and stuff so for me, OVH is a FAR better choice.
