@cell I think it's just for the weird aesthetics, I go for ergonomic ones here, much prefer to be able to adjust to taste
@cell speaking of chairs, reminds me of the time back in network engineering school where we did a lot of work on computers the classroom had these awful fully wooden fancy designer chairs. i legit had to bring a pillow to school every day so I could sit on the darn things because they were incredibly uncomfortable lol

@cell so basically there are sport car chairs for gamers who want a gaming station for car games. When streaming games became popular, the chair constructors got the idea to send their chairs to streamers, thus making up the concept of "gamer chairs".
Now people believe gamer chairs are a thing, and these chair constructors are rich.

@cell At home I rejected both. I can't find the exact model right now, but mine was a bit like this (though a piece broke recently and I need to get a new desk chair because I'm too dum to fix it, it seems) and lemme tell you, it was as comfortable as it can get
@cell I guess "Office chair with ergonomic, breathable design" isn't as appealing as "Elite Turbo Xtreme Racer gaming chair 3000™" to that crowd.
How is anyone supposed to know you're a serious gamer if you just have some boring office chair?

@kaia @cell nah flat back chairs are awful, i always end up having to cushion them with an upside down T arrangement of pillows to avoid back pains and such. if you've got an opportunity to buy a new chair, just get a proper ergonomic one bc it's designed for back breaking 9 to 5 "come work from the office again" slave jobs where people eternally sit down, so it's like a guarantee that it gets the job of being a good chair done.
i dont know why people always defend these 'gamer' chairs for their branding alone, despite how practically awful they are to use. do i have to do some kind of schitzo framing like 'the jews are doing the marketing 5g spells to make you buy the goy consoomer chair' to get the point accross?
