wondered why deltachat was so quiet. turns out the alpine upgrade installed a version of dovecot with a breaking change to configs and the mail servers down.

formally speaking i hate distro packages now.

if i'm gonna have to redo all kinds of shit it looks like i might as well just switch everything to containers. tired of this dumb bullshit where distros push updates to things like dovecot or python which in turn causes a massive cascade of shit to break because haha lmao oh man what is semantic versioning

@icedquinn tbf, the only distribution that hasn't caused me problems with this was slackware. debian is fine in most cases but when it breaks, it breaks hard because of all the debian specific customization and patching.
