According to my Methodist coworker the entire Methodist church is currently schisming over gay people

I wonder what theology students a thousand years hence will think of this, will the 21st century be viewed as the century of the homo schisms? Will there be weird Latin jargon for it? Will it be seen as a weird, almost forgotten quirk like Arianism? Will Christianity be divided into two schismatic groups of pro- and anti- homo churches with each faction in communion among themselves? Are gays the next Filioque?
@scathach They have been schisming for half a decade now. Most who were gonna leave have already left. Some chicanery for the general conference the year they officially made "Gay Good" the rule, kept the international coalition from even coming into the country to attend to vote on it (because they were basically unanimously against it) so the Americans rammed it down the gullet of the denomination at large.
