People are quick to laugh at nerds with a dream of modular homes and stuff, but they are right.
Houses should be more like software.
In all respects where it sucks ass, they are already like software.

Just checked and they have some interesting aspects, but they are for specific places imo.
Putting one in a traditional (style wise) neighborhood would look kind of off
Also I'm not a big fan of huge glass walls.
I would definitely build one for a more secluded place though

@wizardmanperson in my opinion, modularity can be made entirely orthogonal to architectural paradigm. In fact, I reckon it might be easier to have versatile modules for classical architecture because that has stricter rules about proportions and sizes than modern architecture

@WandererUber i see your point, and it's probably correct in theory, but i can't find an example of something close to that atm.

Perhaps they are still in the initial stages of getting people familiar with it, or builders need to adapt, but a few examples to tackle that requirement would be more visible I'm guessing.

Also, not sure if big housing projects (not super low income ones at least) use this, which should be strong indication of the viability of them.

@wizardmanperson you'd be hard pressed to find many examples of actual classical architecture at all, unfortunately.
If we're being technical, there's classical and modern and also vernacular architecture. Whereas classical is about a strict grammar (Palladio), modern is about one-upmanship (as soon as rules emerge, they are thrown out), and vernacular is more about function and material, which is why it plays a subordinate role today.

big housing projects use modules quite a lot, yes.
The issue is that they are not classically proportioned or decorated anymore.
I looked this up for illustration, but apparently the OG commie blocks under Stalin were! Stalinist architecture follows classical rules. Never knew this.

@wizardmanperson my point with this was that traditional in the sense you used it most often means "vernacular". That's arguably the hardest to make models for. In principle, there should be as many vernaculars as there are settlements in the entire world. That's clearly anti-modular
