@DrRyanSkelton yeah well it wasn't my cup of tea but I would trust Into the Breach with it, I guess. That's deliberately NOT random.
Ironman in this case just means no save rollback. So you can't reload if your fellas buy the farm or if you fail an important mission (you get a retry but it has consequences in the campaign), it doesn't wipe your progress because you fail a mission or something like that. In principle it's great and I liked it at the start. I thought I could learn the rules, and I had some cool bouncebacks. The thing is though that you CAN'T really learn the rules that make your guys not die in a game where random bullshit happens all the time.
They don't know how to design a game.
They had the momentum of existing IP, a more-fun-than-usual base building resource sink, and a genre that basically automatically works even if you ruin it, because it's tried and true.
People apparently ate it up (no shade towards 'Lumbo)
