I'm sure that guy was speaking entirely of something other than the government when he talked about protecting and rebuilding Japan after the war. /s

It's very ingrained in American patriotism to think everyone loves them and that they do so much good around the world, even though they have made everything worse for everyone for more than a century now. Something good happened? That was us! Something bad happened? That was just the regime, it's not our fault!

@WandererUber last I checked we blame ourselves for all kinds of things, heck fedi's brought up how we're being blamed for not stopping the holocaust sooner. only the oldest generations care about the country, everyone else wants to kill themselves.

Well as long as you're not taking the side of that idiot in the screencap, then I've got no problem with whatever you believe, as you know.
He's the worst sort, one of those who romanticize the very recent past of his country and wants to pretend that they were a force for good. There's a lot of those, but that doesn't mean it's not coal.

"The Japanese need to understand" Why don't you go kill yourself, how about that? Your own damn country doesn't understand. The last times the world listened to the lectures of "your" country, it lead to war, famine, ethnic replacement, and worst of all, women in power!
