re trans journalism, adjacent to politics
Like ok reporting on The Bad Stuff is one thing but like, Erin, pinknews, etc etc, it's all such doom and gloom and a lot of it simply doesn't actually reflect reality. I see people online asking if London is safe for trans people and things like that. Yeah hell yeah go to London, go to the cities.
Obviously there's places you shouldn't go to but like, in reality, offline, where the grass is, most people don't give a shit, most people don't know about the legislations because it doesn't affect them, most people simply aren't even perceptive enough to notice what's going on around them moment to moment. They won't notice you and you won't notice them. Most people don't know their arse from a hole in the ground.
People need to remember that journalism, even indie journalism, is driven by money, driven by what can make people click the most. This shit is designed to politicswash itself so that you can say to yourself "I'm in the know on every detail of this topic that affects me" and then you're stuck indoors terrified to go out because trans journalism 99% of the time is "this old man said this thing about trans people and I'm telling you this because ????????".
