I like Scott the woz but I don't like some of his dumb opinions on consoles and games

@Velveteen i'm curious as to what those are
i think he should do an entire scott the woz on the commodore 64 personally, i'm pretty sure he has one

@Velveteen i do also kind of disagree on his opinions on atari 2600 games, i don't think he really "gets" them, i see them as amazing feats of engineering that miraculously end up being really fun and complex despite the ridiculously weak hardware available, but i get the feeling he doesn't really see them that way. i believe scott has said he plays atari 2600 games on a composite modded atari 7800, which i think kind of hurts the magic a bit. playing on an original 2600 with RF video is something else, it just feels a lot cooler to me than playing on a newer console with significantly better video output
@mjdxp whenever someone posts modern footage of a game that was intended to be viewed on a CRT and talks about the graphics I honestly just cringe. There's youtubers out there who show captured footage from an emulator running at 4k for like a ps2 game with a wide-screen patch where half the UI is stretched to fuck because it was never intended for 16:9 it kinda drives me crazy lmao

@Velveteen when i do play games on emulator i usually do prefer the original aspect ratio at the original resolution, but i really don't like CRT or bilinear filters. i want the pixels to be as sharp as possible, i think that's just the best way old games can be displayed on an LCD
@mjdxp i can't stand software filters either tbh I think most of them look really awful. Pixel sharpness on an LCD is fine, because otherwise you have that mushy natural upscaling the tv does by itself, but if a game was designed with crt pixel blending in mind you know I'm gonna play that on my crt lmao
