@lain The bri'ish public hate the current establishment but are also deathly allergic to anything remotely anti-establishment. The public expects political figures are expected to be polished, rounded, unoffensive twats the likes of which only an oxbridge education can produce. Westminster will bend over backwards at slightest hint of controversy and are basically the collective bitches of the news media. This is also why I believe that reform aren't going to do shit.

An MP allegedly calling a police officer a "pleb" was considered a big deal over here, so naturally two guys characterized by their opponents as "the UKIP rape man" and "the nazi pug guy" were ill-suited to the job.
