@SuperDicq @sun while i'm critical of llms and don't want to use them, moon doing fun things is about the least bad thing i can think of with llms. i don't see why i should shit on that.

@SuperDicq @bonifartius I realized how much I fucking hate bootstrapping and setting up build systems, the shit is fucking awful and I’m done with wrangling arcane systems. Absolutely fucking done

@sun @SuperDicq almost every build and module system is absolute hell to use and i quit using languages when possible if the tooling is shit. the only half decent one i know is go, and even that has warts.

@bonifartius @SuperDicq I use go if I want a statically compiled native cli tool and it works great for that

@SuperDicq @sun you can not like what someone does but still respect them. e.g. i don't like the church, but i don't shit on people active in the church if they don't do harm to anyone - usually they even do good. moon works to do nice things for fedi, i don't need to shit on this. i only find the irony in that scrapers are an annoyance for self hosting llm generated code funny, but those scrapers are annoying for me as well.

@bonifartius @SuperDicq I respect the good arguments against llms. It’s a fact that the legal provenance of llm code hasn’t been legally tested yet and it could go either way. I don’t give a si for shit about power usage or building data centers in the abstract other than how they affect people’s property through externalities

@sun @SuperDicq i don't think the environmental arguments about power usage or datacenters are very good, especially when considering other opinions the same people hold on certain wars etc. the datacenter water usage is a problem, but using fresh water for cooling is pretty stupid anyway. putting datacenters on a green meadow is retarded as well, put them in some industrial area. the issue is HOW things are done, imo.

@sun @SuperDicq out of interest, how does the church in japan handle buddhism and shinto? my main gripe with christianity (and the other monotheistic religions) is that they have been great destroyers of culture.

@bonifartius @SuperDicq Christianity is not common here at all. Atheism dominates followed by lay Buddhism and Shinto a distant third
