I'm trying to recall when the Obama push began for his '08 presidency. He just seemed to come out of nowhere. But yeah, for sure... "somebody they have tight control over" applies.
With the internet how it is now, it would probably be hard to replicate that kind of dark horse thing. Maybe some actor... 🤣

So the Ice Festival... I had about 20 minutes to walk around this. When I first saw the blue, I thought for a second it was fake. I've seen this kind of blue twice before... on a day cruise in Alaska to a glacier area, and hiking to a glacier level area in Peru. Anyway, this thing along Lake Shikotsu in Japan last week was incredible.

My thing with the U.S.' D's and R's is if you subscribe to one, you're made to feel you have to subscribe to all their stances on all issues... as opposed to going issue by issue, and deciding things on individual issue basis.
It's fully baked into the system that mostly no clever and unique solutions are pitched. It started with the CNN Crossfire format. Why don't we have a program called Common Ground... people hashing out solutions? Because we're meant to fight on simplistic levels.
