I was doing a search on fruit bushes easily grown and surprised to see that every berry bush is out of stock. Not only that, but there are states that have banned several of them. It's never noted what the reason is.

What types of berries are banned? Do you remember seeing?

@cjd @Java I know that certain fast growing berry bushes are banned in some states because they become invasive but I cant remember which ones, and gooseberry carry some disease that can infect trees. Pennsylvania bans anything that might threaten the lumber industry.

What's wrong with currants?

There's a fungal disease called white pine blister rust, in it's lifecycle it spreads between two different plants, one being the white pine and the other being a current or gooseberry plant - so the US banned them ages ago, but that ban was lifted in (I think) 2001. Certain states may still ban them though.

I was originally inquiring because I wondered if there are any other berries that are banned, or if it's just those...

@cjd I can't find the prohibited list now. But the nurseries will let you know. Diseases and invasiveness are a problem as you guys said. @Lori @Phil @TXHolly
