@WandererUber @Shadowman311 Doing one income and keeping your wife at home is a choice, and you have to sacrifice pretty much all bullshit spending to make it work. I don't really believe in the two-income trap, people have just become accustomed to wasting a shitload of money on stuff that doesn't matter and will cry poverty when they have to choose between their favorite category of bullshit spending and paying the mortgage.

I still have a higher standard of living than my grandparents.

Baby boomers, often shortened to boomers, are the demographic cohort preceded by the Silent Generation and followed by Generation X. The generation is often defined as people born from 1946 to 1964, during the mid-20th-century baby boom that followed the end of World War II. In the West, boomers' childhoods in the 1950s and 1960s had significant reforms in education, both as part of the ideological confrontation that was the Cold War,[7][8] and as a continuation of the interwar period.[9][10] Theirs was a time of economic prosperity[11] and rapid technological progress,[12] and many grew up expecting the world to improve with time.[13]

As this relatively large number of young people entered their teens and young adulthood, they, and those around them, created a very specific rhetoric around their cohort,[14] and social movements brought about by their size in numbers. This impacted society's perception of the boomers and further popularized generational thinking, which was a relatively new phenomenon at the time.[15] In many countries, this period was one of deep political instability due to the postwar youth bulge.[16][17] In Europe and North America, older boomers came of age during the counterculture of the mid-1960s to early 1970s[18] and its backlash.[16] In the U.S., younger boomers (or Generation Jones) came of age in the "malaise" years of the mid-1970s to early 1980s.[19] In China, boomers lived through the Cultural Revolution and were subject to the one-child policy as adults.[20]

In the early 21st century, baby boomers in some developed countries are the single biggest cohort in their societies due to sub-replacement fertility and population aging.[21] In the United States, despite their advancing age, they remain the second-largest age demographic after the millennials.[22]
