@JohnSmith87298753 @Scarlett More like deep blue, the old sodium based bulbs only produced yellow light whereas LED's cover a wider band of frequencies but are heavily biased towards blue light.
They make LED bulbs that mimic sunlight fairly well but they cost slightly more than the cheaper unbalanced variants so municipalities just go with the cheapest option.
A shame since unbalanced blue light actually causes vision degradation, circadian rhythm disruption, increased chances of skin cancer, and other health issues in many species, humans are especially prone due to how our skin works.
Fun fact, while full spectrum LED bulbs don't improve crop yields by weight all that much they do increase nutrient density in plants which leads scientists to believe that plants use different frequencies to boost different cellular functions.

@GoonPatrol @JohnSmith87298753 @Scarlett how does the imbalance lead to skin cancer? or is it the elevated intensity of the blue compared to a full band?
