What's interesting is those engines are not fundamentally *that* powerful. The supercharger they use is really old tech, way better stuff being used in street races. What makes them powerful is they run nitromethane fuel which is so violent, it kind of borders on being a high explosive.

Nobody really uses nitro for anything else though (except RC) because it's just obscenely expensive.
@LordMordred Used to go with my dad to NHRA stuff all the time and we'd hang out in the pits while they fired it up and stand there inhaling the delicious painful nitromethane. I'm probably going to die horribly one day because of that but hey, worth.

Anyone who wants a good, manly time, go to the drags. I assume the pits are still free to hang around in. Hopefully the NHRA hasn't cucked that hard.
