That was a good read. Two things.
With the advent of AI and the US government signing a deal with Open AI, they now have someone listening to everything you do and flagging you if you become too much of a problem. His point was valid up until the advent of AI.
Press Gangs would be even more disastrous than he imagines. Yes, someone is eventually going to get into a shoot-out with the press gang. That might not be the first incident. There are plenty of people who will not tolerate their friend or family member being kidnapped. It won't be hard to find where they're being held or where these people are being dispatched from. Even if they cannot figure it out, military bases and recruitment offices are not exactly difficult to find.
People roll up to a military base a good chunk of those soldiers are going to defy orders and some will even side with the people coming to rescue their loved ones. Even if the military succeeds in defending their abductions, what happens when they want to leave their bases?
Best case, soldiers and vets are treated with scorn. Worst case, they get jumped anywhere they go. If not them, then their families and friends.
People are already jumping the press gangs in Ukraine. They show up and they're assaulted. In a corrupt state like Ukraine Press Gangs aren't working that well. In the US they're going to be a disaster. Oh the media and the politicians will defend them? Really? Then they'll be treated the same as will their families. That support is going to end really quickly and blame being assigned to whatever clown is in charge of the country at the time.
Their system is screwed.
