I have a suspicion that at some point in this clusterfuck, Israel, which neeeeeeds warm bodies in the IDF, is going to start claiming that all Jews (in the world) are Israeli citizens and subject to military conscription. European countries are going to do a bunch of performative hand-wringing before saying "oh well, rules are rules"...

I think the US is heading for a civil war, so there are going to be different states doing different things here, but I suppose you can probably see how maybe half of them would be quite happy with such an arrangement...

The problem for America is, as Ron Paul so eloquently put it 2 decades ago: When you use the power of empire to live beyond your means, eventually that empire falls and you must - for a time - live beneath your means.
A lot of people are gonna lose everything. People are gonna starve. People who have been in authority positions for a long time are gonna lose their position, if not their life. New people will rise to power - who are a lot more clever and brutal than the last batch. It always goes like this, hence "hard times make strong men".
So figure that the America which I'm talking about is gonna look ~nothing like America as it is today.
