@Bunsen @paper9741 @DC5FAN , this is what a high-distortion inlet (or a foid without a moral constitution) sounds like at max suck...
Is it distorted from spillage and flying so slow? Pretty sick!
Its tthe geometry of the intake ducting that makes the sound at low airspeeds; the C-5 with the older GE TF-39 engines did something similar to give it a unique sound at takeoff:

I love older jets just coz they look like Druids didn't design them.
H8 h8 h8 newer jets coz they look like something out of Stonehenge.

I miss the old designs.
On left is still the sexiest passenger jet ever. Not efficient, but sexy.
Hopefully Boom's curvy new SST (on right), called 'Overture' is successful.

Scott Manley did a tour of their shop not long ago. Really impressive operation, hope they are successful.
Supersonic air travel is one of those things we almost *have* to get it back to break the "we used to do things but we can't anymore" curse.

This is precisely why big aero is at the cusp of a major reckoning. Boeing went all-in on legacy shit & DEI and are paying the price. Airbus, a state-owned enterprise, is only a player because Boeing tripped over itself and there is nobody else in the big jet market. I wish Tupolev, Sukhoi or Ilyushin were players, as they make a fine product, but they've been sanctioned out of the market.
The only way forward are for new companies led by our generation who are willing to take big risks to innovate.
This is one of the reasons why so many 'startups' are sprouting up all over. Some of these 'startups' are effectively branches of big aero/big tech as a way to get around onerous big corporate culture & DEI.

I just hope some of these startups stick around. It sucks seeing promising new players get bought up and their work never sees the light of day.
Technically, the State of Florida considers my business a "Technology Startup". I guess "startup" is newspeak for "new small business".
We even asked why they consider as such, especially given that we didn't take a dime from any big tech or VC firm...
