2Even if it doesn't there are literally a million things that can go wrong between the moon and here. There is a reason we only went once, and it's because Von Braun was a maniac.
We went a few times back in the day.
We now have more modern launch technology (SpaceX), although the Saturn V has never failed either. We have much better electronics, automation and computers. So theoretically the whole thing should be less risky. (should, but of course there's DEI)
They've already sent this ship around the moon once. What that unmanned mission has proven is not just that the technology is capable. It has also shown that humans are just passengers now. No more checking the star positions with a sextant through the window. I don't know why they have four humans on board now. If they want to test life support, one or two would be enough.
