I remember in High School I'd play hookey, go to the local burger king, buy a whopper with a coupon for $1, get a cup for "water" and then jump on the bus for less than 2 bucks round trip and see a movie for 5 bucks.

what's even more insane to me is that gen-X keeps up the boomer narrative of how much harder it was for them in the 80s when they paid for a truck for $50 bucks and had to put in about $100 bucks into it over a yearwhen they were 19-20 so that they could laboriously work 40 hour days at a hardware store during the summer to pay for two semesters of college. As if today any of that is even remotely possible lol.
