you fetishize the symbols of dead 20th century leftist ideologies because you think that having the right opinions is sufficient to create a better world, I do it because the symbols themselves still have the power to create an emotional effect but are no longer attached to any movement or party and therefore are basically free propaganda

@nyx isn't this the entire idea behind Rammstein?
@yakmacker @nyx i would not call rammstein anything but a bunch of sound and fury signifying nothing. good spectacle, not much else
in the words of blixa "if that's getting a baseball stadium full of american fans then i wonder if i should continue singing in german"

@yakmacker @nyx "strong german man make loud music and fire" has no significance because it is simple. even if they try to say something it will fall utterly flat and only move the most basic of person. it's fine to enjoy it as a spectacle but if the emotional effect is "wow they're so deep" then that's a misstep.
deliberately choosing to use symbolism that has no significance other than echoing specific sentiments and concepts in the pursuit of reflecting elements of human nature via art is a few layers more interesting.
i guess what i am trying to say is, you won't find Žižek analyzing rammstein because there is nothing there to do.
