Rothschilds worked for the British crown. They made loans on behalf of the BoE which, if the recipients of the money knew who it was coming from, they would know they were being lead into a trap.
Apparently the Brits haven’t figured out that if you are just watching streaming services a big monitor with no antenna isn’t taxed. Another alternative is to disable your TV from receiving an OTA signal. That would be a nice side hustle business.
But, yes, taxes on physical screens are dumb. The US has them as well but they attach them to provider service bills. Much easier and way cheaper to enforce.
