I don't think the loss of rites is due to feminization as they were gone centuries before women's liberation. I think it's more a part of sedentary civilization. There are many many things we don't do anymore, because we don't have to, and we only did them in the past because we did have to.
Many of them were good things, and we lament that they're gone, but it's still something we dropped when survival didn't require it anymore.
