My friend hosts a discord gaming tournament every few months and we were doing the Nintendo DS this time. He usually tries to find lesser known games, and this time we played this one game that is called "Project Rub". It was made by SEGA AND SONIC TEAM and is wild. The joke is that in Japanese, "love" and "rub" sound the same, and the DS allowed you to "rub" the screen.
So many jokes. I'm sure your head is full of them right now. It was hilarious. But what's funnier is that the game is actually pretty fun. It's basically a bunch of mini games and the goal is to I guess "Woo" a woman by winning them?
Also, despite the jokes that can be made, the game apparently wasn't really intended to be too sexual and the development team was actually mostly women, which I think is pretty cool especially for 2005.

1Fun addition to the lore of this one. if you go to https://sonicteam.com you can find archives of the promo sites for nearly every sonic game before the early 2010s. These are fun in themselves, but the DS page does mention Project Rub, but it currently doesn't link to the promo site, which made me sad.
So I looked at an archived version of the site circa 2005, and I found a promo for the game that linked to this page:

Yes, that is a flash promo site for the game and it has the background music from the game playing on loop. It is very fascinating. You can get an extension called Ruffle that allows you to view most flash sites.

This just further emphasizes to me how important it is to preserve internet history.
also yes, the japanese title is きみのためなら死ねる (I would die for you), and the shortening they went with is きみ死ね which sounds more like telling someone to die, very odd choice tbh. Telling someone to 死ね is very offensive and usually something I've only seen in anime.
