He likes to rile up fediblock mastodon with the most obvious bait by creating multiple alts at least once a week. Somehow he got mad at f0x a month or more ago and this is the result, trying similar tactics to get a reaction. So far it never worked out. Also supposedly not all the fediblock bait is done by him, which is possible, but the timing of baiting fediblock yesterday and day before that is too close to this "f0xluvsp_at_fsebugoutzoneorg" larp.

They invented that thing. And it's what Mastodon based their "consent-quoting" on. What do you expect from people that get mad at you for getting accurate amount of users on instance statistics (as a "scraper") to the point of lying in the API, but still displaying it correctly on /index.html. Breaking federation is their bread and butter and making a social network less social apparently their goal.

IIRC there were some allegations in the past that the devs were cops or something like that. My brain could have made that up though. Still the fact that moon got banned from their issue tracker while helping someone never gets old.

funny thing about this is i fixed the database bloat issue but I cant submit a PR or even write a guide because I'm completely blocked. so while ours hovers around 333GB (instead of over 1.2TB) I'm sure they have much worse problems

their main problem is its a bunch of trannies trying to shoehorn pronouns into the spec instead of creating a task that periodically wipes the states from rooms, epsecially rooms who have had their versions upgraded because it stores every login, logout, every ip, every time you logged in, logged out, where you were scrolled in the room, any time you changed your profile picture. for everybody in every room you join. you run a public server, they join a room with 60-70k people now your server is storing that data for all of those people without ever pruning. ever.

I'd use a PinePhone if I had one, but I don't. Maybe I will shove a SIM into my uConsole. Google is unacceptable. "De-Googled" is not real: "Open" forks of Android and also Chromium have both suffered a long string of bugs where they downloaded and executed random binaries from Google.

It's both at the same time. If you actually have to use your phone as a smartphone with calls,texts and apps it's almost impossible to use. While if you just want a web browser/shell in a brick, it's good for that.

The Android runtime is stupidly complicated and if you want a usable smartphone OS that isn't Android, it has to support some recent-ish implementation of the Android API. PostmarketOS is usually used with the waydroid emulator. SailfishOS has its own compat.

Mismanaged like most Mozilla projects. At least the quite good Fira fonts came out of it.

From the start, it was intended to suck. I'm convinced. They went for the low end of the market, which Android already owns, and most of their money comes from Google. They actively avoided releasing it in the US so if you wanted one, you had to special-order a locked-down ZTE. That phone was such shit that the main menu was laggy. I got the thing specifically to hack on the OS and it was boot-locked.

I mean if you want to use your smartphone like a smartphone you need Android support. If my phone doesn't have Signal, banking (sadly), and FB Messenger with friends (sadly), then it is completely useless to me no matter how amazing the hardware is. The OS is Linux with PostmarketOS and I think as well with Sailfish (Jolla), but both have their own ways of emulating Android if need to be (and will be needed at some point). Postmarket runs KDE/GNOME/some gtk phone specific thing, and I think is based on Alpine. Sailfish is a mostly proprietary OS with a UI written in your favorite Qt ;).

. It was meant as gentle jab on how unusable linux phones are for most people, when the ability to call someone is still called "feature" that usually requires some workarounds.

If I wanted, I would probably run a Linux phone for most things and then had an iToddler on me as well for the normie stuff.

Okay. Yeah, I mean, what I am using is a stupid iThing that I hate and I'd probably use a PinePhone if I had one but the iThing is my sole tether to normie shit (which means I almost never have to touch it unless playing chess on the shitter).

Under no circumstances would I touch an OS that was a fork of a Google OS. I owned a Motorola, which I purchased because it had a qwerty keyboard and was not an iThing, and it refused to allow me to use the phone in any meaningful sense until I logged into a Google account, so I went back to "no phone" for a few days and picked up an HP Veer.

I have no recommendations for any of these things because they are all terrible but I can say what I did. I'm happy to put up with a shit phone if it is hackable.
