@carolen In ads, if there is a mixed skin color couple, the man is darker than the woman 90% of the time. It's been like that for a long time. Like they want to say something. Ad agencies these days seem often intent on sending a message rather than selling a product. As for swedish ads they often picture swedish men as idiots or just pathetic. Sometimes it reminds me of humiliation television, like putting some losers on an island to survive.

@h4890 Before, ads here often had a humoristic twist to them. Without denigrating the locals. Come think of it, humor quite often "kicked upwards", but inte 90s (maybe?) it became more of humor at the expense of "the common man". I dont know how much that is still in play, havent had a telly in almost 15 years. @carolen

This is a real oddity. I would love to hear someone on the inside talking about this.

I figure either the ad agencies are all filled with insane people who have no interest in selling the product, just pushing their politics.

Or else there's some actual advantage - maybe there's a demographic that likes humiliation and happens to spend a lot of money (?)

Or maybe the only important thing is if Larry Fink smiles on your company and nothing else matters anymore because the economy is fake...

@cjd There is a masochistic tendency. A bit like looking at humiliation shows and putting yourself in the losers' position. I think many ad agencies have alot of people who are ideological, or at least formed that way. After all, they are in the slogan business, so I think many actually believe the slogans.Thgere are t lazy opportunists, too, ofc @h4890 @carolen
